Ethics charter

The rules we hold ourselves to, in plain language. Where a rule and a sale conflict, the rule wins.

1Provenance is not truth

A verified record says who issued it, what was checked, the evidence digest, and when. It does not say a claim is true. We never present provenance as a verdict on truth, and we label unresolved states as unresolved.

2One rung behind the evidence

Every public claim we make about capability stays behind what we can demonstrate. If a credential type is in beta, we say beta. If a state is observed rather than proven, we say observed.

3Independence and the firewall

The VERA™ Registry records status under its own rules. Our commercial modules cannot buy, edit, or accelerate a Registry outcome. Content we publish ourselves is excluded from third-party evidence and disclosed as ours.

4Anyone can check

Credentials travel inside the file and can be validated in software we do not control. We do not build trust that only we can verify.

5Privacy by design

We collect what the service needs and no more. We do not build surveillance products, we do not sell personal data, and where we can operate on hashes instead of identities, we do.

6Corrections and disputes

If we get something wrong, we correct the record, keep the history, and say so. Disputes are handled by people, and the outcome is written down.
